Therapeutic Approaches
Psychodynamic
This approach focuses on our innermost experiences that we may not be presently aware of because they hold residence in our subconscious or unconscious mind. The goal is to help us identify how your experiences have shaped and informed how you respond to your emotions, as well as your response to the world around you. When we can identify patterns that contribute to unwanted behaviors and suffering, we can work together toward positive change.
Attachment-Based
Our caregivers are the first people who teach us how to love and who help us form our own sense of self-worth. This method can help us in exploring how early childhood experiences with our caregivers can inform the lens through which we perceive ourselves as well as our connections to others in adulthood. Together, we can explore how this is impacting your experience and work toward re-framing and repair.
Mindfulness & Somatic
These practices are intended to promote healing by bringing awareness to tensions stored in the body. These tensions can cause automatic reactions that feed a cycle of dysregulation. Together, we can explore ways to help you feel more grounded and balance your nervous system to assist with emotional regulation, stress management and work toward cultivating inner peace.
Integrative
One size certainly does not fit all. Integrative practices provide a holistic, personalized approach with interventions tailored to suit your evolving needs. This approach honors the unique and individual experiences you have had, and allows utilization of various psychotherapeutic techniques to customize client treatment and promote exploration and growth in mind, body and spirit.
Play Therapy
This approach is specific to children as they often process and communicate through play. Children often struggle to understand and verbalize their feelings, and play therapy can provide a safe space for them to explore their emotions. It offers the opportunity for practicing coping skills to assist with self-regulation, as well as social problem solving. This approach is generally child-led, which allows for a sense of agency for children.
Integrative care is also utilized for children, incorporating mindfulness and solution-focused techniques to assist children with expanding their emotional regulation tool kit. Early intervention to process emotions can set the stage for amplifying self-compassion and awareness and strengthening resilience.
